Georgia football sees more valuable recruiting momentum ahead of G-Day

There is a lot of recruiting buzz surrounding Georgia football and Athens as the Dawgs’ annual spring G-Day game is on Saturday. The Dawgs have been and will continue to host some of the best prospects as it seems like guys show up daily.

Georgia currently has the No. 5 2023 recruiting class on 247Sports and the No. 2 SEC class behind Arkansas, who has the No. 3 overall.

The Dawgs have plenty of room to work with seven commitments, and they made some ground in key areas. While there seems to be some movement in the quarterback area and a couple of others, the Dawgs are working the national championship angle and will show on Saturday how if a prospect is willing to work, they will get reps.

Georgia football has a strong spring on the recruiting front, and there is no end in sight.

Top talent is visiting almost daily, and with G-Day this weekend, the expectations are even higher because that should bring in a ton of top talent.

One of the biggest targets in town this week is Xavier McLoed, a 4-star defensive lineman. According to 247Sports, he is the No. 25 defensive lineman and the No. 3 player out of South Carolina. He recently dropped his top-10 schools, and Georgia made the cut, so this week’s visit is a big one for the Dawgs.

McLeod is a strong prospect for this class, and the last time Georgia targeted a talented guy in South Carolina, they ended up with Channing Tindall on their team. I know they play two different positions, but still worth noting since both come from the same state.

He has a lot of upside that Tray Scott can work with, so hopefully, the Dawgs can make a strong push this week. Another defensive lineman that will be in Athens this week is Dashawn Womack. He announced on Twitter that he would be in Athens on Tuesday, so he is another guy the Dawgs could make some strives with and is a name to know.

Womack is a 4-star defensive lineman from Maryland who is 6-4 and 255-pounds. According to 247Sports Composite rankings, he is the No. 26 defensive lineman and the No. 4 player out of Maryland.

The Dawgs recently offered him, so it’s good to see Womack making the trip down to Athens.

Offensively, Christopher Vizzina, one of the quarterbacks the Dawgs could target if Arch Manning is off the table, announced his final schools and that he would commit on April 12. He probably isn’t picking the Dawgs at this point, but we wanted to include him because it’s happening this week.

Richard Young dropped his top seven schools on Sunday, with the Dawgs included along with Texas A&M, Ohio State, Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon and Florida. We like the Dawgs’ chances with this one because of his relationship with Dell McGee, but Georgia needs him on campus again soon.

These are just a few big-time names that have caused some recruiting news lately. The Dawgs will likely see some movement this week with G-Day on Saturday as players decide if they’re coming to Athens or not.

Georgia football could see a large recruiting group, and as the week continues, we will continue to update on possible visitors. The Dawgs usually host a ton of prospects that weekend, and this year should be no different.

This year the Dawgs need Georgia fans to show up and be loud so the prospects can see how tremendous this fanbase is. While the momentum is heading in the right direction, it’s still early in the process for this 2023 cycle. Anything could happen, but spring is when the groundwork gets laid, and lasting imprints are made.
