Gibson Southern Archery Club | Sports

This year the team from Gibson Southern High School, along with several individual archers from Fort Branch Community School and Haubstadt Community School, qualified for the state tournament in Indianapolis at the Indiana State Fairgrounds March 12.

The Gibson Southern Archery Club had archers participate in both the bullseye division as well as the 3-D division. Archers who finish in the top five at the state tournament earn plaques for their efforts.

At the 2022 Indiana NASP State Tournament, the top 35 high school teams in the State qualified to compete in the bullseye competition. The Gibson Southern team placed 23rd in the final standings with a score of 3152. During the competition, the team shot their highest score of the year and are now preparing to attend the 2022 NASP National Tournament which will be held in Louisville, Kentucky in May .

Gibson Southern archers also participated in 3-D competition at the state tournament. Scores for the 3-D competition were the following: Annie Lucas 251; Caleb Estep 235; Jordan Speedy 231; Ella Helfert 230.

3-D: Daegan Schafer 273 (7th place in Middle School Male – 3-D); Slater State 271; Evelyn Anderson 262; Landon Begle 249

Ella Holden (5th Grader at FBCS) finished 5th in the Elementary Female Division of Bullseye and earned a State Tournament plaque. There were 273 archers in her class.

Bullseye: MaKenna Cummings – Elementary School Female – 272

3-D: MaKenna Cummings – Elementary School Female – 265

MaKenna Cummings (5th grader at HCS) finished 2nd in the Elementary Female Division of Bullseye and earned a State Tournament plaque. There were 273 archers in her class.

MaKenna Cummings (5th grader at HCS) is the State Champion in the Elementary School Female Division of 3-D and earned a State Tournament plaque. There were 77 archers in her class.

Gibson Southern Archery members will continue to practice and participate in local tournaments to prepare for the 2022 NASP National Tournament in Louisville on May 5-7.
