GMac showing lots of love to Brewster 4-star guard

Based on some recent media reports, I’m getting the sense that 2023 four-star shooting guard Reid Ducharme is a top priority for the Syracuse basketball coaching staff in this class.

The 6-foot-6 Ducharme, who had a fabulous junior season at the powerhouse Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH, said in an interview with scouting service Pro Insight that the two college squads he’s hearing the most from late are the ‘Cuse and Penn State.

Ducharme says he talks “a ton” to both Syracuse basketball assistant coach Gerry McNamara and Penn State assistant coach Mike Farrelly, adding, “Those two coaches are always talking to me, so they’re definitely showing the most love, right now. ”

Naturally, this is great to hear, although I imagine that Ducharme will continue to add high-major scholarship offers in the coming months as he suits up in AAU competitions for the Boston Amateur Basketball Club on the Nike EYBL circuit.

Syracuse basketball seems to be in solid shape with four-star guard Reid Ducharme.

According to reports and recruiting services, besides the Orange, Ducharme holds offers from teams such as Northwestern, Connecticut, Iowa, Providence, Penn State, Creighton, DePaul, Stanford, Harvard, Brown and UMass.

During the 2021-22 season for the Brewster Academy, he was named to the All-NEPSAC (“New England Preparatory School Athletic Council”) Class AAA second team.

He has also been praised for high-level performances at the recently held 2022 National Prep Championship in West Hartford, Conn., As well as during an NCAA live period when he shined for the Boston Amateur Basketball Club.

The Orange coaching staff offered a scholarship to Ducharme this past August at the team’s annual Elite Camp.

ESPN recently updated its national rankings for the 2023 cycle, and Ducharme checked in at four stars, No. 84 overall and No. 24 at small forward. He is four stars and No. 105 nationally, according to Rivals.com.

Both On3 and the On3 Consensus rate Ducharme as four stars as well. On3 refreshed its 2023 national rankings not too long ago, and it had him at No. 62 across the country, No. 19 at shooting guard and No. 3 in New Hampshire.

The industry-generated On3 Consensus, meanwhile, ranks Ducharme at No. 100 nationwide, no. 24 at shooting guard and No. 3 in New Hampshire.

Full disclosure – I’m a big fan of Reid Ducharme. I think he fits the prototypical mold of Syracuse basketball shooting guards / small forwards.

It appears that the ‘Cuse is squarely in the mix for him, and we’ll of course continue to follow Ducharme’s recruitment.
