Ian Wright has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo is “exactly what Arsenal need” after the Manchester United forward’s hat-trick secured a 3-2 victory over Norwich on Saturday. The win moved the Red Devils up to fifth in the table, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham after they lost at home to Brighton.
Meanwhile, Arsenal suffered their third successive Premier League defeat at Southampton, with Jan Bednarek scoring the only goal of the game to dent their hopes of a top four finish. The Gunners have found goals hard to come by of late, with just two in their last five matches.
Whilst the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe have 10 goals apiece this season, their second highest scorer remains Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang; who left for Barcelona in the January transfer window. Arsenal’s other senior strikers in Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah have a paltry four top-flight goals between them this season.

Wright lamented the Gunners’ lack of firepower, and also hailed Ronaldo who’s 15 league goals have kept Ralf Rangnick’s side in contention for a top four finish.
“He’s got 13 points alone from winning goals that he’s scored for them. That’s what you get at Man United, ‘Wright told Premier League Productions.
“That’s exactly what Arsenal need, because if he wasn’t playing for United they’d be nowhere near where they are. That’s what you pay for and that’s what he’s delivered, he’s amazing.”
Man United travel to the Emirates Stadium on April 23 for a match that could prove crucial for both club’s hopes of securing Champions League football next season. However, before that encounter the Gunners face another crunch game when they travel to London rivals Chelsea on Wednesday.
