Men’s Tennis Central: # 5 Tennessee Vs. # 28 Auburn

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Fresh off a Friday sweep of Alabama, the No. 5 Tennessee men’s tennis team is set to face the 28th-ranked Auburn on Senior Day Sunday afternoon at Barksdale Stadium. First serve is set at 1 pm ET, with Senior Day ceremonies beginning at 12:45 pm ET.

Tennessee will honor graduate students Adam Walton and Mark Wallner Prior to Sunday’s regular season finale. A win would give the Vols their 20th win of the season. Live stats will be provided by UTsports.com and can be found here. Live streaming is available for free through Playsight here.

At Barksdale Stadium this season, concessions and alcoholic beverages will be sold at the concourse, with two of the grandstands behind the court. Concessions will only be sold during outdoor matches at Barksdale Stadium and not at the Good Indoor Tennis Center.

SCOUTING AUBURN
Tennessee (19-6, 7-4 SEC) has won 14 of its previous 16 meeting with the Auburn and three won in a row over the Tigers. Friday marks the 61st all-time matchup in the series, with the Vols holding a 43-17 advantage, dating back to 1960. Auburn (18-8, 5-6 SEC) has dropped each of its past three SEC matches and will win one give Tennessee its 11th home win of the season.

Entering Sunday’s match against Auburn, Walton has 97 doubles and 113 singles wins at 210 combined victories in Tennessee, while Wallner boasts 53 career doubles wins and 28 singles wins in three seasons with the Vols, including the abbreviated 2020 dual season. His combined Tennessee career during 81 combined singles and doubles wins.

CLINCHED
Tennessee senior Emile Hudd has clinched six of Tennessee’s 19 wins this season, leading the team in that category. Hudd is 8-3 (3-1 at SEC) 3 singles this season.

THE CENTURY MARK ON EYES
After earning his 97th career doubles triumph Friday against Alabama, Walton now stands at three doubles victories away from 100. Reaching this feat will make him the sixth Vol in the program history to accrue 100 career doubles and 100 career singles wins.

The 2022 SEC Tournament is set to run Wednesday, April 20-24 at Athens, Georgia this week. The official bracket will be released Sunday evening following the conclusion of all SEC matches.
