Passaic Tech is the team to beat

Passaic Tech girls flag football coach Anthony Muir has some advice for the new teams competing in the Jets-sponsored league this year.

“Just work hard, it will be one of the best things you’ve ever done,” Muir said. “It was a life-changing moment for me and our program.”

The Bulldogs are the defending league champions after beating Irvington in the final at MetLife Stadium last spring.

Girls flag football is not sanctioned sport by the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (yet) but it may be the fastest growing.

Back in February, the Jets and Nike said the league was expanding from the eight schools it had in 2021 to 42+ across New Jersey and Long Island. New programs got a chance to scrimmage Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

The official New Jersey schedule for the regular season was released today by the Jets. It calls for a playoff between teams in the two separate divisions (North and South) of the Super Football Conference meeting the winners of a playoff between teams from the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference and the Big Central Conference.

Teams will play a seven-game regular season.

The semifinals and championship game will be at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center on June 4.
