Portland State Basketball Coach Jase Coburn has announced the signing of transfer Keshaun Saunders to a grant-in-aid agreement for the 2022-23 season.
Saunders played three seasons at Toledo, including with the 2021-22 National Invitational Tournament team (26-8), appearing in 90 games. A 6-5 guard, Saunders has averaged 5.5 points and 2.0 rebounds per game during his Toledo career, hitting 88 three-pointers and shooting .373 from behind the arc. He was named to the MAC All-Freshman Team in 2019-20 after averaging 7.7 points. Due to the NCAA’s COVID-waiver season of 2020-21, he has junior eligibility.
“Keshaun is a very versatile perimeter player. I expect he will be able to play multiple positions for us, and he fits in very well defensively,” said Coburn. “He has got a great combination of athletic ability while being able to shoot the ball at a very high level. Keshaun also has a great personality and should integrate himself very well into our program.”
Saunders is from Brampton, Ontario, Canada where he attended Orangeville Prep. He averaged 21.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.1 steals per game. Saunders was a two-time Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association All-Star and competed three times in the Canadian All-Star Game featuring the top 24 high school players in Canada.
