In UNC basketball recruiting news, are we FINALLY going to be getting a decision from Class of 2023 standout GG Jackson?
We’ve all waited patiently for an update on GG Jackson’s recruitment, and it appears FINALLY as if we’ll hear a definitive answer at some point in the next week.
Elite junior GG Jackson says his college decision is “100%” coming next week. Plans to have a press conference at his school. North Carolina is the perceived favorite – Hubert Davis and Sean May watched him tonight, as did Frank Martin and Lamont Paris.

According to ESPN College Basketball Insider Jeff Borzello, the 5-star recruit from the Class of 2023 intends to make his college decision within the span of the next week. The plan is for Jackson to hold a press conference at his school, Ridge View High School, to announce the decision.
This is good UNC basketball recruiting news, given that the latest information points to the Tar Heels being considered the “favorites” to land Jackson. However, although all signs point to him eventually heading to Chapel Hill, Duke and South Carolina are still considered to be involved in the mix.
There has also been some speculation that Jackson is considering reclassifying into the Class of 2022. With the Tar Heels currently having no available scholarships, it’s more likely that he’d stay in his current class if he decides to commit to North Carolina.
It’s been a roller-coaster type of recruiting process for Jackson, as a few teams have had their fair chance of being considered “favorites.” Let’s not forget: at one point, South Carolina was talked about as a likely destination, given Jackson’s relationship with former head coach Frank Martin.
At this point, Tar Heels fans just want the official announcement, ending all speculation that he could be heading elsewhere. Landing a commitment from Jackson would be a huge addition to Hubert Davis and his staff, as they’d have two top-10 caliber players highlighting their recruiting class of 2023.
