Virginia L. Spigarelli

IRON MOUNTAIN – Virginia L. Spigarelli, 93, of Iron Mountain died on Thursday, March 31, 2022.

She was born in Iron Mountain on Dec. 18, 1928, to the late Gordon Abramson and Olive (Charbeneaux) Benda. On June 9, 1951, Virginia was married to Abraham Spigarelli at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Niagara. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2012.

Virginia was a great cook and baker. Even though she was not Italian by birth she learned to be a great Italian cook, specializing in ravioli, meatballs, and risotto. Her family always looked forward to her holiday meals.

She was also an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, and dominos. Virginia cherished time spent with family over all, whether it be camping or traveling with the whole crew or just babysitting and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Virginia will be missed by her children, Dennis (Gail) Spigarelli, Debra (Daniel) Lomax and Daniel (Sandra Oman) Spigarelli; five grandchildren, Mark (Carrie) Spigarelli, Kelly (Jason) Poupore, David (Danielle) Spigarelli, Scott (Erin) Evosevich and Hailey Spigarelli; seven great-grandchildren, Riley Poupore, Caleb Evosevich-Hynes, Raven Spigarelli, Blake Spigarelli, Jason Spigarelli, Harper Evosevich and Sloane Evosevich; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her step-father, John Benda; great-grandson, Cameron Joseph Poupore; and her brother, Nick (Carole) Benda.

A private graveside service will be held later this spring for Virginia’s family. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
